Liangshuiquan Village is located in the west of Qixian County, Hebi City, Henan Province, and belongs to Lingshan Sub-district Office. Liangshuiquan was originally named as "Liangshuiquan" after the two springs in the east and west of the village. The earliest records can be found in the "Geographic Manual of Qi County" in Guangxu 27th year. The Manual describes Liangshuiquan in a few words: "Liangshuiquan is 28 km away from the northwest of the town, with two streams gathering. It is adjacent to the mountains in the north and to the ditch in the south." The total area of the villages is 5.3 square kilometers, including that of a natural village.
Under the policy guideline of “protection first and development consideration”, the plan sorts out and evaluates the tangible and intangible cultural heritages of the village, after which it is determined that Liangshuiquan Village is of great importance for studying the location of mountainous villages, changes of traditional residences in northern Henan and the Yin-Shang culture, Nuwa culture and folk customs of the Central Plains. The plan formulates the protection measures targeted for the traditional houses in 63 courtyards (129 buildings) and conducts modernization reconstruction for interior space of houses under the premise of ensuring “repairing the old as old”, so as to improve the infrastructure and public service facilities of the village, and make the village’s environment more beautiful. The plan divides the village into four industrial divisions including the ancient village and recreational tourism zone, landscape sightseeing zone, recreational agriculture zone, and mountainous recreational zone and strives to develop Liangshuiquan into an ancient village in the mountainous area of northern Henan that preserves traditional styles and integrates functions of ecological leisure, sketch photography, and village tourism in 3-5 years.
